hi all i want to start out by saying this is not my first time around on swaps i am a lincoln tech grad but i usually work on newer cars so this swap is a first.
ok i know a good bit about motors and i want ether a pontiac 400 or 455 motor. was gonna try and go 350 but everyone and there grandmom has one. so i know chevy and pontiac trans are different bellhouseings i should prob go th400 but what do you guys think of th350.

wondering what trans is in the inline 6.
i know about the motor mounts on the inline an v8 need to be mixed together but other then thet what do i need to do with wireing, fuel pump. i know i can get the motor in the car thats easy what i really like to know is what extra do i have to do?? any and all input would be appreciated i would like to attempt this swap in the next few weeks.

thanks
Rob

Your main issue is the motor mounts and brackets which you can get at www.amesperf.com along with other components for a swap. Your better bet is the Turbo 400 trani unless you want to go with a manual 4 or 5 speed from aftermarket.

im gonna stay auto and thanks for the link i have one of there catalogs. are the trans mounts gonna stay the same between the 6 trans and the th400 or not. also the driveshaft goin to stay the same lenght or not thanks for your help.

If you look in the catalog you will see there are all sorts of driveshafts based on year and transmission. There is only one trani mount so you might as well put in a new correct mount.
