This is a rather controversial subject, but Im asking for your observations / input on the "Tuner" Scene in past few years.
My input is that its gone down the drain the past few years. People thinking they're better than everybody else because they have a weak turbo and body kit rolling on stock rims.
I remember back in the day when people didn't care about the "in crowd" or what "crew" you role with. It was ALL about the cars. Now its all about the "crews" and being apart of the "crowd". Back then we used to actually like to create horsepower, and give people major props for each single HP they created. Ive been apart of the Jbody community, the Oldsmobile community, pontiac, NISMO communitys, and by far the 3 favorites i have would be Olds, NISMO and Pontiac. For the simple fact that people arn't as snotty and as stuck up as the other communitys. I go to alot of shows throughout the year, everytime i see kids (usually between the age of 16-20) look down a car, look to their friends and say "that car looks like sh*t". I give alot of respect to those who have done their own work on their cars, who know the passion, know the things that fuel it. It gets annoying that people would have the guts to look at a car and diss it when probably they're driving something far worse. I mean people have seem to of forgot that when commenting on someones car, that its not theirs, everybody has personal preferance, nobody should rip on a bad or (im sure the Jbodys here know this one) rip on the good ones and praise the bad.
Did we seem to forget that a car is a CAR? Yeah you can throw a few things on and call it modded, anybody can do that. But by no means does anybody have the right to say something bad about someones personal preference. It just seems rather pathetic that people who think they are the best of all time have the galls to rip on someones car, when their car was in that stage before as well.
We've all been there at some point in time im sure of that. Whether it be on the internet, shows, in front of our house, infront of friends, don't matter. This "scene" or rather as i refer to it as a "bucket of sh*t" has become overwealming. Ive almost gave up modding because of these hypochrits. Yeah they are just words, but cars are my life, i live and breathe exhaust fumes. You diss someones life, they will take it personally, and feed off it. I will admit, i've screwed up in this scene alot. Ive messed with people in my town that i wouldn't ever be able to take back. But im still here, offering my advice, input, and help others get their cars to where they think they should be.
Ive gone through alot of cars, a 71 Olds 442, 97 Cavalier sedan (just sold it), 87 Cutlass Supreme sedan (just sold) and im on my next adventure. A 98 Niassan 200sx SE-R. Everytime i get a new car i think it as of a new start on life, a new beginning, a new whole to burn through the wallet. But no matter what those people follow, they still bash on those who have more heart and soul in this sport than they do. This is a SPORT.
And the last thing i HATE more than anything in this "scene". Why do the guys look down on the women that mod their cars? I see it at so many shows, they love the car, once they meet the owner, they bash it because a woman has more talent than they do. Ive seen very few women take the Best of Show award. I respect any woman who comes into a MALE DOMINATED sport, and kicks their *ss. Personally if i entered into a show, and got beat by a woman for Best of Show, i would be proud as hell. I would say "hey, thats a awsome car, and i just had a run in with it for best of show". Not to mention its really good to hear a woman doing their OWN work on their cars. It shows alot of class, and ide be proud to give them respect in a sport where not many give them what they deserve.
So ok sorry about the LONG post, but whats your stance on these subjects?
