2000 montana ks

We recently bought a used 2000 Montana and as we drove it home that evening, the tach in the instrument cluster was the only one lit and it would not dim when the dimmer switch was moved. We also had less than half of the auxiliary lights on the dash for the radio, air and everything else. Took the dash apart and found the lovely computer circuit board on the instrument cluster. Question: can those be taken apart and new lights soldered in or are we going to have to bite the bullent and pay $300 for a new cluster? We did manage to find a headlight switch/dimmer switch and now have more lights on our auxiliary light panel and our tach light will now dim. If any of you have ideas or have had this problem before would you please help us resolve this? Thanks so much.

And we really are enjoying the Montana, beside the light problem, it's a sound car.

 Boy, were we in for it?? The car had been running fine until we got to work the other day and hubby went to leave for an appointment...then it wouldn't start! Called the guy at the garage to come look at it and found the fuel filter was plugged full and so the pump went out. Ok, got that fixed. Before it went to the garage for the pump the "low coolant level" light was blinking. Got some coolant and was going to put some in this morning and found oil in the radiator!! CRUD! (being nice here) Put a call into the dealer we bought the car from and he's on vacation, lucky dog! Gonna call him back on Monday and make his day. I do believe that this car is going back to the dealer and we're gonna find something else. Anyone have any suggestions? We liked the Montana because it was 8 passenger and very roomy (we have 3 growing boys). Can anyone suggest another make of van or a better year of Montana?

Update....We flushed the radiator. Realized that whoever had it before us, didn't know what they should use in the radiator. Whatever it was that they did use, turned into a thick, goopey mess that was stuck in the neck of the radiator. Luckily, it all flushed out and we're good to go now. We found an instrument cluster from a salvage yard and installed that. Now we have only 38,000 miles instead of 75,000..HA!! Only problem after the cluster install, the radio locked up. Easy fix at the local dealer. I think after we find new wheels and get them on, we'll have a great ride. Found that we had three bent wheels...oh well.

Well that's it. Hope everyone is driving in style in their Montana's. Enjoy!
