Hi,

I have a 2005 Montana (not SV6) that has a bank of switches under the climate control. These switches control the rear wiper, fog lights and TCS.

They have previously illuminated red when the lights are on. The rear wiper stopped lighting up a while ago.

I decided to remove the switchbank and see if there is a bulb, and sure enough there is! I had to use a pin to twist the bult slightly to let it out. It is very small with a black base. I put it back in (as I did not have a replacement), and reassembled.

I noticed, that same evening, that suddenly none of the switch lighted up anymore, making me think I might be nuts and maybe they never lit up! The switches all work, they just do not light.

I cannot find replacement bulbs ANYWHERE on the internet. Does anyone have experience replacing these little bulbs, how they found them, and how to properly do it (so I don't burn them all out somehow)?

Many thanks!!!

Just to give an update... I've checked out online, the dealer and will be going to part store today. When I visited GM, they had returned all bulbs to GM. My last step will be an auto wreckers... you would think someone, somewhere might carry these. Typical of GM to abandon vehicles and customers.... sigh.

did they give you a part number so you could cross reference it?

Thanks for the replies. I finally found them! I decided to go to a GM dealer outside the city (Janzen GM in Winkler, MB). They were a long time Pontiac dealer and where we initially bought the van. They had a pile of them. They now have a brown base and are covered in a blue film that needs to be removed. They were expensive at $8 a pop but I bought 3 of them. I installed and they work fine.

If I can post pics of the bulb, I will.....

It includes a pic of the bulb with the blue wrapper on it. It is so tiny I can barely focus on it. It is next to a Cdn dime to understand scale. One pic of the bulb unwrapped and one of the plastic it came in.

Nice write up . The more I think about it , my overhead console switches , 1 of them does not illuminate I wonder if this would be the same little lamp ? And how did you remove the switch to get to the lamp?

Thanks for the gm direct parts url. I found them on there much cheaper. Now I know what I am looking for in the future! As for the upper switch bank, I'm not exactly sure how to remove, but when I was lying on my back looking up at it, I saw a couple of indent in the front of the entire unit near the windshield. It looks like it can be pried down. I bet the same little twist bulbs are in those.

Hey eckhart,

How did you get to the switch bank under the climate control? I want to replace some bulbs there too.
