Is a flowmaster exhaust on a 1990 pontiac firebird illegal? where can i find a legall document to carry...

...if its is it illegal or not?

just leave the catalytic convertor on,,so it can pass emission,,, We live in a county that doesnt have that smog test, and pulled one off the 2001 ta.. Its not illegal or they couldnt sell them,, you just have to keep the converter on

as long as your catylistic converter is still in the car (it is illeagal to alter or replace a catylistic converter unless it is damaged) and your car still passes an emissions test then it is legal... unless your state has some wacky laws.... i know CA and NJ have some pretty strict laws regarding what can or can not be done with an emissions system...

If you do not know, the alteration of a exhaust system from stock IS illegal in many states ..
I know the laws very from one to another but most have laws on the books that make anything other than a "stock" replacment part illegal..
the aftermarket gets around it by stating the parts are for OFF ROAD USE ONLY if you don't read that part and put them on your car you are responsible for any tickets or costs encured by using them ..
there are some parts that carry an Executive Order exclusion number that are legal in SOME states but you must make sure that they are for the area you are in ...
Flowmaster only makes a couple products that carry the "EO"#s and none of the ones that do are mufflers so there are NO papers you can get to make it legal..
although most jurisdictions leave it up to the OFFICER to make the call on legality...:(

Thats what I love about Canada, we have none of those stupid laws lol....
I woulden't hold your breath .. sooner or later someone will make enough noise about either Noise, pollution,or some other "issue" that will make them enact some stupid law ...
I know around here I used to run glasspacks when I was young hardly ever got hassled .. but around ten or twelve years later people started getting fed up with the noise from "kids" constantly revving their engines at midnight and all hours through populated residential areas.. the BOOM cars a few years later were even worse as people would have the Bass up so loud that it would rattle windows and wake people up ..
the young people don't think about it when they are just driving around but many of them are just putting another "nail In the coffin" for everyone who keeps the noise down ...
take it from me sooner or later it WILL catch up with you...
weather it's when you get older like me (LOL) or when the law starts coming down on the noise...
