My guess is that Pontiac is not coming back and that this is just going to be an enigma.

But I hope I’m wrong…

I have to agree with Sal. The video provides plenty of good arguments on why it could make sense for GM to bring Pontiac back but I’m doubtful it will actually happen. Certainly not with high HP V-8’s that would compete with Corvette.

The interesting thing about the Corvette now being mid-engined is - Pontiac can have a rear wheel drive sports car with the engine under the hood - and not crowd the Vette...

You make a good point. Another would be that a Pontiac performance car could offer a more affordable option to both the Vette and Cadillac CT5-V Blackwing. The arguments against introduction of a new high performance ICE include GM’s commitment to future electrification and Blackwing’s related limited future.

Being a fan of the Fiero… What if Pontiac would make another two seater with a highly eco-friendly drivetrain - and a twin turbo V6 with a hybrid electric motor to add power when needed. Mercedes does this and it works really well.

Most people would buy the highly economical version as it would be cheaper - and this would keep Pontiacs fuel usage rating low. But even the twin turbo V6 would be somewhat fuel efficient.

A light car like this, a two seater, would be competitive, power-wise, with just about everything being made right now.

Along the lines of a Fiero/Solstice on steroids. Now THAT would be cool!
What I liked about the Fiero over the Solstice is that between the logo on the hood and some of the styling, it seemed like an ordinary person’s exotic car. Sort of Ferrari like. Today’s two seaters like the Miata or recent S2000, Saturn Sky - they don’t give me that same feeling. I think something really unique and exotic looking would be a real hit and sell to people looking for a Corvette without the price tag.
