Hello,

06 Pontiac Torrent AWD

I hope someone can help. I am starting to freak out.

About a year ago I had a odd knocking sound like metal hitting something creating a dull knocking which seemsed to be on the front driver side. Seems to be coming from teh floor area.

Only happens when I turn left and go over slight bumps.

Now it has gotten worse. So far I have changed the following:
both bearing hubs, both strut assemblies, both stabalizer links, stabalizer bushings and driver side control arm. Sound is still there.......

I did notice when I changed a few things that the driver side axle seems to be a little loose at the transmission. Does not seem to move enought o make noise.

My only other thought is a bad CV Joint. Maybe i need to replace the axle assembly. Before I do i want see if there is anything else I should check.

The bottom rear engine munt seems ok.

I am stumped. Please help.

have you checked if the exhaust system is hitting anything?
did a mechanic tell you to change all those parts?

Thank you

They were all parts that were going bad and I figured it was a god time to change them. Thank god I can do some work myself.

Never thorught about the exhaust system. I am going to change the Cat later in the month.

I did hear that the inner axle can make an odd cluncking sound over bumps if it is going bad. Not like the typical popping from the outer CV. Have you heard of this.

Thanks.

Tim
