liftgate interferes when closing

the liftgate on my 06 montana sv6 awd 3.5 makes a loud clunk like it's hitting the body when I go to close it. it also does it when I close it slowly, so I don't think it's the bump stops.

this is a diagram of the liftgate. Look at the wedges and the lift cylinders to see if you can find the source of the noise.

so, I got to have a quick look at the hatch today, and it's crooked, like more than 1/8" twisted (like / /) looking at it from the back! which part do I loosen to slide the top over? will the bolts that are exposed allow me to do this? thanks for the info so far

if the bolts you are looking at have adjustment slots that would work. Before loosening anything use a crayon or washable marker so that you can return to the original position.
