can u guys help me out to find the location of the a/c orifice tube on a 2001 pontiac montana single a/c?

There is no orifice tube. It's a TXV(thermal expansion valve) system in the 01 montana. Attached to the evaporator under the left wiper linkage. Calls for 1.8 hours labor, not including system recharge. Good luck

Doing some troubleshooting on your ac system?

yeah.. i was able to fix the problem.. it was the condenser filter and the exp valve that was cloged..now is the a/c is working excelent :).. i hav another prob though.. i need to replace the transmission pressure control selenoid.. do i need to remove the trans in order to remove the side cover and replace the switch?? thanx for ur help

sure.. the expansion valve is located in the firewall on the drivers side.. to remove it u remove the bolt holding the a/c lines... after there are 2 bolts holding the expansion valve.. heres an image.. And to remove the a/c filter wich is also known as the RECEIVER DEHYDRATOR, the condenser has to be removed.. easiest way is to remove the engine supoerts on the front, remove the radiatoer suport on top then remove the 3 bolts securing ther radiator and the a/c condenser together.. disconect the condenser a/c lines, then push the radiator all the way towerds the manifold so u can get enough space to pull the condenser out.. its pulled out towerd the top.. then u just simply remove the RECEIVER DEHYDRATOR from the condenser.. heres an image... hope this helps

Thanks for posting this is good stuff to know ,if you had to take this to the stealership or garage it would cost hundreds .Good luck with the tranny and keep us posted.
