Hi guys! This is my first post! I have been a firebird fan since I was 14 years old. I have owned an 88 firebird and an 89 formula. I am a bit older now, and in a position to have a "fun" car that I dont need to use as my daily driver. Anyway, so, I have looked at an 1980 Firebird Formula. Originally had a 301/th350/2.73. It now has a 73 455 that was rebuilt 8 years ago(8,000 miles on rebuild)... rebuild included bored .030 with crank turned .010. Forged pistons with stock 4x heads and a mild cam. The th350 was rebuilt at the same time. Also the car now has a 3.23 posi rear with discs. The car was also competely repainted 8 years ago. The paint now is a 9/10 with only one quarter sized bubble on the rear quarter. Interior is nearly mint, just needs the defroster duct to be replaced... the blend door works but doesnt blow out the defroster. Snowflake rims have been restored to show room condition.
It seems as though this guy was pretty anal about taking car of the car as well. And the mods he did do (external fuel pump, sump tank...etc) were all done very cleanly.

He said he will let the car go for $7,000. I havent shopped around for a 2nd gen in awhile, but I am guessing this is a pretty fair price? What do you guys think?

That sounds pretty good. I would do a good inspection of the cars undercarriage just to make sure you will not have to do any rust repair in the future. I had an 80 Formula in copper metallic. slightly under 10000 Formulas were made in 1980 making it the least produced in that year. The 455 is a great perk too. As I said, just make sure you go over everything pretty closely.

thanks for the info man. The car was completely restored about 10 year ago. I didnt have a chance to get completely under the car but under the hood was perfect, the wheel wells looked great, the trunk looked perfect, and the doors didnt sag.

This car is "gold" is that copper metallic?

Thanks. From looking at the chart this car was resprayed the factory "Gold".

What I called copper metallic is called "rust" on the chart provided above. Was quite rare and a beautiful car when fully restored with formula appearance package. Here's a pic of mine while I was parting her out for my 76. she was rotted badly in the cowl and toe panel areas.
