I owned a Pontiac Montana van for 8 years, and put about 165,000 miles on it in that time. My son drove it for 2 of those years as a teen driver. Overall, it was a decent vehicle, except that I had to have the same transmission repair done 3 times - two of which were not covered by the warranty. I sold the car to a neighbor almost a year ago, and he's driving it today.
I can't comment on the Solstice, but the Pontiac brand isn't bad. If it was me contemplating buying it now, I would do the research on the car still. Check Consumer Reports, go to cars.com and look it up, drive it, talk to friends and neighbors, etc.
One thing I would recommend, though, is to set up the financing so that you pay the car off in 36 months - no more. A car depreciates too quickly, and if you go longer than 3 years, you run the risk of getting upside down on the loan - IE, you owe more than the car is worth. The problem there is that if you need to sell it to get out from under the loan, you can't do it, and then you're stuck with the unpaid balance.
If you can't pay it off in 3 years, you can't afford the car.
