...pain is it? Ok, i have the 1965 Ford F100 with a 352ci 4 speed tranni, granny shifting out the but, since this truck dont have a brain(PCM) or whatever its called, what are the odds that i can pull out the manual tranni and stick a automatic tranni for a 352ci motor, really how much work and cost would i be looking at, hell i figure its not computer control like the newer cars, should be a little bit easier, since 90% of these trucks came automatic
any ideas or even from someone who is in to old cars and part swapping

Suggest this post would receive more attention in the Ford truck forums, some of which are:

Offhand, suggest it shouldn't be excessively hard - find a non-computer controlled tranny (spell that 'older'), and figure out the driveline lengths and cross-member support changes, shifter arrangement, and the like.

Also, will need to add a tranny cooler of some sort - most stock applications are included in the radiator, may be able to get an aftermarket unit with thermostatic control.

Good luck!
