I have the Monsoon system in my 1999 firebird and it has been great for a long while. then the 2 front speakers went out. i swaped them which i know now about ohms and all that stuff but with the new speakers i have the same problem. Has anyone ever had this or what do u think it is.... factory amp? factory monsoon deck? also where is the amp located in the firebird?
 
it is the speakers. The monsoon system has a WEIRD wiring setup, and it almost specifically requires that you replace them with stockers. try putting some stockers in there, i'd bet ya money its the speakers
 
I have the Monsoon system in my 97 TA, and I've lost three speakers in last six months. Is it the speakers? Don't know yet.
 
Monsoon speakers.

I've just replaced two of the speakers in the backset, with 60W 6-1/2" house speakers. Assuming you know how to solder, cut off the old speaker harness, and solder both the red wires to the red post of the new speaker, and the two black wires to the black post of the new speaker.
My new speaker's work great, though i'm not sure the wattage rating is as high as it should be. Chances are your Monsoon is fried. I doubt the speakers are blow.

I just purchased a 2002 WS6 T/A - my question is what are the specs for the MOnsoon system? Mine is working fine..but is ir really rated @ 500 watts?

I am new here...first post...jsut scanning the baords...enjoy the input of everybody...

I have the monsoon system in my car and the front speakers and subs went out in my i have replaced all them. still using the monsoon system just not as loud. ( using 8 ohm speakers)

using infinity kappa 6.5 componet in front doors
infinity kappa 4x6 in hatch
dayon 6.5 woofer in the back seat for sub ( you can find these at partsexpress.com)

the fronts have the wiring for the tweets and wiring for the mids
you need to put a componet system up there.( split system)

oh yeah the stock monsoon speakers are rated 2 ohm.
