Hello this is my first thread question. I have a 70 Pontiac LeMans and I am not sure what size the engine is, either a 350 or a 400. Anyways, in looking to buy a MSD for it, any suggestions on which to get for best start and power gain? Does anyone know how to determine size of engine. I bought car as is a few months ago. I checked for the serial numbers and was unsuccessful.

Pontiacs have the engine code listed on a pad on the block in front of the passenger side cylinder head. The code is 2 or 3 letters. Once you have the code we can figure out which engine you have.
MSD makes many different parts, distributors, boxes, conversion kits, etc. What are you trying to do with the car, street driven only, street and track, or track only.

also do you have points ignition or HEI?

are you having any performance or running problems your trying to cure?

What carburetor do you have on it? remove the air cleaner if you have factory type Quadrajet the number should be on the main body
here is a link to help you id the carburetor http://www.carburetion.com/quadnumber.htm

this link will help you id the engine http://www.pontiacpower.net/castnum01.html
