My 1996 Pontiac Grand Am SE?

Ok, so I am pretty sure my motor is about gone by now because it blows out thick white smoke nonstop when its on, which is why i dont even start it no more, many people have told me I need a new motor, and people have said its not even worth fixing get a new car. But the thing is, the car has grew on me in the past few years, the car is in MINT condition which is not often you see everyday on a 96 Pontiac the paint has minor chips and scratches from age and rocks. the interior is in MINT MINT condition no RIPS no TEARS it still smells like a new car. the car is great but im not sure if its even worth fixing. Please help I love this car to death and really dont want to get rid of it just yet.

sounds like a head gasket. maybe warped/cracked heads.

a shop would charge somewhere around 1500-2000$ to fix. DIY 250-700$ depending on what shape the heads are in.

im not sure about a new engine.

You can probably put a new engine in for as much as it would cost to repair the one you have ... as for saving your car it makes sence if it's paid for and in great shape..
new cars are expensive and who needs payments these days !
I would check around and find a deal on a new engine with a warrenty and be that much ahead ... GOOD LUCK!
