...wrong with it? The past 2 mornings the temp gauge has gone up into the red but the high temp alarm didn't sound either time. I pulled over and shut the car off. The coolant was still full, after about 5-10 minutes of sitting both times I started it up and the temp was normal. The car ran fine without over heating both times. What do you think is wrong with it?

Could possibly be the thermostat but you want to check coolant level in the radiator AND the radiator to make sure the radiator isnt low and the line to the overflow hasnt developed a leak.

When it got hot, did you notice if the fans were working.
Make sure the fans are working. Check the fuses and relays. If the fans are not working, the coolant temperature sensor is probably faulty (explains why there was no warrning). If all check ok, replace the thermostat as your radiator is ok since it was full when you checked it.

Good luck.
