my 91 pontiac firebird is a 3.1 v6 bad tranny mount?

The transmission mount went bad about three weeks ago. when I take off too fast there is some crazy noise coming from underneath the car. (the driveline scrapping i think..) does this need to be replaced asap? if not can this cause my transmission to go bad? or something else?
Thanks ill have to get my lazy ass boyfriend on it asap!
