I was wiring a new tapedeck up that the condition i was not sure about, I only wired the power lines and left the speakers untill i was sure it worked. I reatched batter and attempted to start it and suddenly i had nothing no lights, no spark. Battery still has power so what is it? bad fuse?

Would a bad fuse take out everything though? ignition,, interior lights ect.

fuseable link?

always disconnect the battery when you are working with a wire harness

Sounds like you may have a bad connection at the battery, or nearby. I suggest start checking the grounds, and clean the battery terminals.

Once, to my embarrassment, I called a flatbed to retrieve the Camaro because it wouldnt start. Turns out, the battery cable had gotten loose. I dont remember if it were the positive or the ground, but the results are the same.

How did you go about determining that the battery has a full charge?

Battery Tester, and I even attempted to jump it, so i concluded its a fuse or i was told possibly a relay.

any chance the battery cables where they go into the terminals that connect to the battery have broken strands from disconnecting and reconnecting the battery?

nope battery appears fine, Its just i shorted something. I reconnected battery with main 12v lines to stereo (no speakers wired yet just to test stereo condition) and when i turned key twice it didnt power so I went to start car and It just died no crank, nothing. Lost interior lights ect.

And after i unwired Stereo unpluged battery ect and rehooked up and still nothing.

You're sure that it isnt a Ford?

have you checked with the key in the run position if you have 12 volts at the starter solenoid terminal?

well I dont have a diagram for your electrical system but on many older cars the postive cable runs to the starter and from there the other circuits are fed. Do you have a wiring diagram for your car so that you could trace from the positive cable on the battery?

I have a haynes manual. I'll check it out tomorrow when I go to the garage again ( cars at my garage not here).

2nd thought, sounds like you lost your grounds. Check ground wires from battery to frame, block etc.

I have no idea what happened, when i went back up i had nothing still, I swapped batterys it started fine, put the other back in and it started.

sounds like you didnt have the battery terminals correctly tightened
