• Hint: Use a descriptive title for your new message
If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "1995 Trans Am" isn't going to indicate to anybody that you need help. However, "Need help with my 1995 Trans Am" will. Be as descriptive as you can. Please use common sense... I'm making a request for some help with a broken heart, and if there is any one out there that can help me, I will sure take all I can get.
My son at the age of 13 got his first ride in a fiero, he was in love with it. Well he graduated this past May from high school, I started looking for a fiero and found one, so as soon as he enrolled for college to become a nurse, I made arrangement to go and pick it up while he was at work ( he worked a Subway). On the way home, with it on the trailer (it had a blown motor), we stopped by Subway, to let him see it for the first time, he went crazy, he did every thing he could do to get off work early. That did not happen, but when he did, he was ready to get started turning wrenches, so he removed the engine cradle in about 2 hours. Now he needed a motor, and that where my mini- van came into play, he did some research online and found out that the 3.1 that was in the van was a direct bolt in. All the sudden he wanted to start driving the van, something should have told me that something was up ( an 18 year old driving a mini-van), with in a month a tranny line broke while he was driving, and as you can guess it took out the tranny. To replace the tranny would cost more than the van was worth, so I was just going to call a local junk yard, but he had a different plan, and he had the motor out again in a couple hours. The stock was not good enough, he wanted more so he started saving every dime he made to build up the motor, as he put it " this motor is going to be .jacked".
He originally wanted the 3.8 sc put in, but knew that was out of his price range. I made a deal that if he graduated college with a degree, I would find a way to make the 3.8 swap happen.
The engine kit that he had bought came on Tuesday and arrangement was made to rebuild the motor on Sunday. One of my son's friends was having a b-day party that Saturday, and at the party, K2 was brought and my son never made it home.
That party took my son, my best friend, and left me broken hearted. I knew that there was suppose to be a race between the Fiero ( when finished ) and another classmate's Crossfire, well at the funeral the classmate talked about the race that was to be, but it would not have mattered because his Crossfire was unbeatable. That is when I decided to put a 3.8 sc motor in it, and yes the race is still on. Well I have found a 3.8 series lll motor out of a 2004 GTP. It is complete, wiring, and cpu. Upon further research I found that I should change the wiring to a series ll with a series ll cpu.
where can I get the mounts - I'm using the factory 4 sp
should I go with a series ll wiring
do I need to change out the rad.
are any suspension upgrades needed
fuel pump upgrade
please help me my son's dream car come alive!!!
Steve
