• Hint: Use a descriptive title for your new message
If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "1995 Trans Am" isn't going to indicate to anybody that you need help. However, "Need help with my 1995 Trans Am" will. Be as descriptive as you can. Please use common sense... Hello everyone,

I have been a member for a while now as a proud owner of a silver 2006 Pursuit and life is just getting better.
My dream came true. I bought a beautiful 1996 blue aqua metallic Firebird with the 3.8 L in it. Man, I love the sound of V6 in the morning! It's an automatic with a hardtop. Mecanically it's great and it has no rust on or under it :)
Florida's sun hit hard on it and the clear is peeling off so I might treat her to a paint job in the future.
Truth being told, summer is simply better and more enjoyable with two Pontiacs! Plus, I got one year done in my automotive mechanics program so I get to practice!
Happy summer everyone! Any upcoming project for your pontiac (s)?

congratulations on your new purchase, having a mechanical background will give you one up on the average person working on cars

Right!

Working on cars is fun sure but it's even better when we know what we are doing! Knowledge also give the extra confidence boost I need before diving in.
I wouldn't want to screw up my cars and risking anybody's life by doing something stupid like changing pads on only one tire!! (I recently did a brake job on my Pursuit for the first time and everything went well)
I'm sticking to simple for now. I might tackle the headlight motors on my firebird when I get some extra money. They don't go up or down with the switch.

The headlight motors fail due to a nylon/plastic gear stripping. There is a replacement brass gear availalble.

That is really good to know. I'm assuming that replacing gears is cheaper than replacing the motors themselves. I should look into it. Once the gears are stripped, are the motors usually damaged as well or they might be ok if I change the gears?
