Trans Am Man

Am? Not my drag car shown in the picture of course, cause it's for drag only,it's my 79 mint T/A i said you crazy, you're useing the Toyota Celica,it's beat up fully legal you no a starter car,so he was all kind of pissed at me,come on man i aint letting no one drive my street rod.Am i wrong or not,he dont have near enough experience to drive my T/A.Theres a pic of it on my 360 the blue one.

my cousin took it in his dads corvette. Sure why not I think he should it will build his confidence and make him a better person.

I am gonna take my chevelle for my test, when I get the engine i most likely with give the cop one hell of a scare
if he false me..Hm mm 1000hp 572 and a 18 year old

You should make him a deal that if he passes the test (in the Celica, OF COURSE) and proves to you he is a good and responsible driver. Then one day (set a date if you want) you will take him out and he can test out the hotrod.

Or just tell him to quit bitchin and be thankful you're letting him use ANY of your cars. lol

Your teen is a typical teen.. wants a hot-rod car to show off in.

If he wants his licence bad enough, he will use the Toyota.. I agree with you, he doesnt have enough experience yet to be driving such a nice car.. expecially this time of year! Im guessing that because of how nice the car is, you are probably pretty selective about when you drive it yourself!

He's may be mad about it, but once he's passed his test and has his licence, he will get over it.

They are YOUR cars.. that YOU bought, with the money that YOU earned.... so therefore, YOU reserve the right to decide who does or doesnt drive them!

HELL NO, he doesn't drive the TransAm! What you are thinking?

You have the TransAm because you earned it, because you have reached a point in your life where you have the time and money to indulge yourself in fun stuff like this. Your teenager has this overblown sense of entitlement that, just because it's there, it's his, too. It's NOT.

Tell him that if he doesn't like the Celica, he can darn well walk -- you don't care -- but there is no way on God's green earth he is going to drive that TransAm. Tell them that people will REALLY laugh when he's hitchhiking by the side of the road!

My dad gave my 16 year old brother a TransAm (over the severe protestations of both mother and daughter) in the misguided sense that "guys need a hot car", and it was wrecked in 2 months. They can't help it -- it's just the testosterone, and the typical 16-year-old "I can do anything" mentality.

And, more practically: With that much power, any small errors are exaggerated out of control very quickly. A neighbor allowed his 16 year old to drive his Jag to the video store as a special treat one Sunday afternoon -- nice kid, no problems, fantastic grades, athlete -- the perfect kid. The kid got a little cocky and took the long way to the store. Unfortunately, the long way was a narrow road, and when he accidently drove off the shoulder, he panicked and overcorrected, hit the accelerator (in the Jag . . . ), and ended up dead wrapped around a tree on the other side of the road.

These kids have NO idea of what kind of power they are dealing with. Let him pout. I'd rather have a surly teenager than a dead one. (Besides, if you let him drive the TransAm, your insurance will skyrocket!)

you own the cars. its up to you to decide which one he uses.
although, do take into consideration for what car he may feel more comfortable driving.

Its all personal preference... What I would do is let him take the test in the Celica, then if he passes, give him a reward by letting him take the TA out for a drive ( supervised )

My oldest son had to keep his grade point ave up for a full year and I purchaced him his first car an 81,Z28 but i told him he could not drive it until he proved to me he was worthy of having it ...
he drove the family Volvo wagon for his road test and diden't keep his GPA up so he diden't get the car (or his licence) until he was 18..
then he only got a 305 engine (detuned by me) and if I got any bad reports from anyone seeing him doing anything wrong or he got a ticket the car was gone ...
It's your Job as a parent to decide what would best serve Your and his best intrest in this case as you know your child better than anyone else ..
My kid still has his camaro (he is 26 now and has 3 kids of his own) and has a built 355 small block in it ...
I firmly believe he needed the extra two years to get his life in order before he got his licence ...
but that was just his situation, Good luck with yours!

FYI, I took my licence test in my dads 71 LTD wagon .. he had a 67 Mustang GT convertable..
that I got as a graduation present a year later..

Right on GOatman, I was the same way. Although Im not a father, I was on the reciving end of responsibilitiy from my father... He bought me my first car, an 88 GTA, but same thing, as soon as I showed that I was too immature to handle the car, ( got a ticket for going 40 over first day with it ) he took the car... I learned quickly how to be responsible.
