quit blowing? i was gonna fix it myself but the dealer said it could be the resistor or thge control unit. resistor $32.00 control $186.00 just for the part. i'd like to fix the one that is wrong any ideas on how to check the parts. the heater won't blow no matter what the setting.
the heater worked fine when she shut off the car . the next morning she has a remote start on the car. she started it up from the house . the car ran about 15 minutes , she got in the car to leave and the bloer doesn't work. whether it's the switch or the resistor or the motor i don't know. i just know that when i switch the the settings 0 to 5 nothing blows at all. i've been told that sometimes when it's a resistor it will only work on the 5 setting,or high. so i'm not for sure if i need a control switch (if thats the name for it) or exactly what . is there a test that anyone knows that would help. i apprecieate all the answers so far thanks

Either the blower motor is out - or the resistor - both are easily changed. Control units do go out but not often. First check the fuse. It depends more on what was happening before it stopped working. was it blowing on high only?? if it was chances are it is the resistor - if not and it just quit working - then it probably is the blower motor. good luck

I work for a dealership and have seen this over the years. If your blower motor only works on one or two speed settings then most likely it's a circuit board which you can probably replace yourself by purchasing one on ebay or a junkyard. There's a few places that will diagnose your problem for free. Check your local auto parts store.
