I'm searching for any answers to a mysterious braking problem my 2001 Aztek has just developed. Its happened 3 times - sporatically - and has been at the dealer for 10 days in the past 3 weeks with no answers.

The problem is I loose my brakes - pedal goes to the floor - car doesn't stop! All 3 times it has happened I was doing a wide swinging turn into my driveway or somewhere else - on both left and right turns. The car freezes (not stalls), and I'm doing all I can to just make it stop - against a curb or something. I let up on the brake, move the car and everything's fine again.

The guys at the shop have had the diagnostic computer hooked up to it for days and nothing happens. They undid the fuse for the ABS brakes thinking it was a sensor, sent it home with me for the weekend and it happened again!

I think they're beginning to think it's all in my head, but IT'S NOT!

Any suggestions of what it might be? Where else should I be taking it? I really could use some help here and truly don't know where to turn. Thanks.

I would agree it's the master cylinder failing but the post is from 2007.
