Still having intermittent shift problems with my '85 L4 5spd. I bled the clutch master cylinder and slave cylinder. The clutch pedal doesn't sit an inch higher than the brake (suggested by Fiero Factory), so I checked the pedal with a magnet (all steel). And the clutch lever is cast, not pressed steel.

I bled the system for about 45 minutes and, although I still got the occasional air bubble, I was getting about an inch of thrust from the slave piston, so I took it for a test drive.

It shifted fine for the test drive, but when I pulled back into the driveway, and took it out of gear, it wouldn't go into any gear (again).

I couldn't find any leaks at the master and slave boots nor at the flexible parts of the lines. And the resevoir doesn't appear to be losing any fluid.

Am I just being impatient with the bleeding, or am I facing a greater problem? Help!:(

Yes, I did. I was pretty happy with the bleed. I did remeasure the extension of the slave rod, and, unfortunately, it was a little less than an inch--not enough to disengage. Bent pedal or master cylinder banjo?

I'm not happy with the slave cylinder performance, but I don't want to just replace parts wholesale. When the clutch pedal is floored, and I crack the bleeder screw, the slave cylinder rod immediately draws back into the cylinder, yet very little fluid is discharged. Is this normal?

I WAS thinking of getting a rebuild kit for the slave cylinder from Rodney Dickman, and maybe an adjustable master cylinder banjo.

Couldn't wait any longer for answers. Went to Pennock's Fiero Forum and got the info I needed, and ordered a slave rebuild kit and adjustable master cylinder banjo from Rodney Dickman (and v8archie convinced me that there really is no way around straightening the u-bracket on my clutch pedal--or replacing the pedal). Hope to be back on the road by the end of the weekend. Thanks, anyway.
