Need advice on a 86' fiero gt!!

So I'm going off to my first semester of college this fall and I've been looking everywhere for a car to take to college. I live in Minnesota so the winters can be bad at times and they salt our roads alot. But I found an 86' fiero gt that is in excellent condition and I pretty much fell in love with it when I drove it. I want to get it but I'm really nervous about how it will be in the winter, if anyone has any advice or suggestions they would be appreciated by me!!

Save the Fiero for summer, get a big GM car and put truck tires on it, I had a 75 Grand Lemans on 31's that went everywhere in the snow .

If you can find a old station wagon.............. thats even better...
