Need to access 1989 Sunbird heater core

Hello, I am needing to replace my heater core but am stuck on a specific part of the dash. Has anyone done this before and know the steps to get to the heater core?

No I haven't, mine was broken on the firewall side ( tubes) and it was bypassed before I got it. I don't need it down here in the tropics so I never repaired it .

I remember looking under there when my blower housing was full of leaves to find out what was the problem with airflow and it looked like a nightmare to just get to it.


I have a 92 service manual so I can look it up if you want.

Hey Doug! Yes... it is definitely nightmarish looking at the project ahead of me, let alone putting it back together! I posted on another forum as well and they shot me a photo of a diagram from a manual. If that one doesn't end up working, I'll be back in touch!
