I came into a bit of cash a few months ago so I had the engine in my 75 formula 400 taken out, completely stripped down and rebuilt with all new parts. I've almost finished running it in but I'm not sure of the best oil to use once I've drained off the running in oil. Any advice?

your engine is equipped with a flat tappet camshaft unlike modern roller lifter engines. The oil used on modern engines has too little zinc and phosphorus leading to premature lobe failures. You need an oil with high levels of those two components. I use Valvoine VR1 Racing oil 10W30 in the silver bottle, there is another version in a black bottle not suitable for street engines. Mobil 1, Castrol, and others all have oils with higher levels. The article below gives more information and you can find lots of other information on the net.
