I'm new to this forum, and I've been looking throught the posts to get a general feel of how things work here. It seems that posting a new thread is an acceptable way to ask questions and start dialogues (instead of searching tediously to try to jump in on a similar thread). Anyway...

I just bought an 87 4cyl 5spd with 100k on it. The guy talked it up nearly to the point of suspicion, but I didn't heed my instincts and paid $1500. Turns out, it's not an 87 but instead an 85, and he cut the wire to the check engine light (two codes flashing). He had it parked on grass to mask the leaking coolant, and advanced the timing by 20 degrees to mask the loss of power due to ingestion of massive amounts of oil through the intake and a non-functioning O2 sensor. He showed that the headlights work, but hid the hacked-in switch to operate one of them. On and on and on. Long story short, who here has parts cars, peferrablt near the Twin Cities MN area? I have a laundry list just to get this car drivable, and I'll probably need a little advice as well. First things first- how do I source a right side engine mount (sheered in half and threatenning to cut into the oil filter)?

Thanks for any and all replies!

First, To get local help to locate parts try this link:
http://www.fiero.mn.org/
It is the Minnisota Fiero Club. There are lots of good folks who can assist you with repairing the hacked parts as well as offer assistance on how to fix them. Kevin is the president.

As melsg5 has posted, The Fiero Store has numerous parts from restoration to upgrades. Here is a link to the engine mounts page:

You can download the 1986 Factory service manual from here:
http://www.fieronews.net/fusion/downloads.php?cat_id=13
the 1985 and 1986 Fiero's are nearly identical for wiring and mechanical things. The factory manual can help you trace down the wiring issues as well as it has trouble-shooting procedures to help correct other issues.

Hope this helps

^ And after you do that you go back to the guy that sold it to you like that and punch him in the face for selling you a lemon! at least that what I would do! But honestly arent there laws against doing things like that...?

No, when you buy a used car, you buy it "as is". The lemon law only works with a vehicle you purchased new and has been to the dealership at least 3 times for the same problem.
