Hello everyone, I am new to this forum and a new owner of a 2004 Montana Luxury. I have a question regarding the Air Ride suspension...yesterday I was looking at the van and noticed just behind the driver side rear wheel a hose that looked like a vacuum hose was hanging down from the van. I crawled under it today and it looked like it went to the air compressor or it was a vent tube for the gas tank? I recently has the check engine light come on and thought it was related, but it looks like it goes to a pump or something. Anyway it seems to connect (I think) to a pump looking thing behind the rear wheel (drivers side) and it has a rubber like mud flap thing under it. Another point, the compressor works when I first start up and then shuts off. What is this...anything would be a real help and Thanks!!

Welcome to the forum! I'm sorry I can't be any assistance with your issue since I have no experience with the air ride on the Montana. We do have a lot of folks on here with Montana's and I'm sure one of them can help you.

Welcome, yes that is an air compressor for the auto leveling rear air shocks. It adjusts the air pressure in the rear shocks to maintain a level riding height due to how much or little of weight you put in the rear of the van. When I start my van the compressor does run for a bit then shuts off after it reaches the proper level. My shocks must leak air over night , a very common problem with older rear air shocks. Hope this helps , any questions just ask there are a bunch of great people here that will help and chime in,we all are still learning so to say.

They have Montana's in Russia ? Cold over there ?
By the way great pics ,that should help them out a bunch.

Working On The Montana Air Ride Suspension

First, Thanks so much for the clarification on the components for the air ride of my 2004 Montana. I belong to Bimmerforums and it has helped me fix so many expensive problems on my 735i and it looks like you guys are lots of help here. My Montana has all the large air lines removed from my system, I will be trying to put it all back so I can tow a small trailer. I will post when finished anything helpful I have noticed. Many Thanks!!
