Hello Everyone.
I am a new member who just picked up a 1967 Firebird convertible a couple of days ago. It was someone else's partially started restoration so basically, I bought someone else's project or headache depending on how you look at it.
I always wanted another convertible, and in my opinion, the very best looking car in a convertible form, from any manufacturer, is a first generation Firebird. I have been telling my wife for some time that I would like to get one. But they had gone up in price since I last looked into it. I was fortunate enough to find this project in my own small town for a price I could swing.
The person had owned it since 2004 and was not sure of the previous history as he bought it from a dealer. He was not sure if the engine was the original 400 or not. From the type of water pump it appears to me to be a 455, so not original, but I will know more when I get it out of the car which should be tomorrow. All I know for sure is what it is not.
This will be my second Pontiac muscle car in my lifetime. The other one was also a 1967 but a hard top with a Oldsmobile big block in it. Not my idea, but that is how it was when I bought it. I have owned two Camaro's a 71 and a 78, a 73 Dodge Challenger, a 67 Barracuda convertible, a 71 Mach 1 that I recently sold. Just as reliable as a clock, once I sold my last muscle car, I ended up with another. Its like a disease.
I am not all that much of an expert on Pontiacs and that is one reason I joined. I would like to learn from others and hopefully help others on anything I can contribute to. I certainly will be asking a lot of questions.
Thank you for having this great forum.
Dan
