Hi i am new on here i bought a 2000 Pontiac Grand Am recently. it has the 3.4 v6 and i have to replace the distributor mounting gasket on it where the cap is on the motor. i was wondering has anyone done this and if so whats the best way to put it on.

update

i got the gasket on but now the car just turns over and trys to start but makes a poping/blowing noise from the front of the motor. any ideas what it could be?

i didnt know 2000 grand am's had distrubtors O.o i am pretty sure they have a sensor now that controls timing

You are correct It's all computer controled. So where did you use the distributor gasket.

Which gasket did you replace? The distributor plug at the rear of the engine or the sensor at the front? The disrtibutor plug should have been an O-ring. The plug is there just to drive the oil pump. The sensor in the front is the cam sensor. Can you take a quick picture of what you changed?
