New Owner Help

Hello, im a proud new owner of a 1991 Pontiac Sunbird 2.0L 5 Speed. I just bought this car and it seems to have a miss or something of that nature during acceleration and it also seems to throw on the check engine light. Also the electric cooling fans come one only after a mile or two of driving. Really frustrated with this missing and acceleration problem. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks, Dave.

thats the thing, it only stays on but a minute or two. then by the time i get to autozone to check it, it goes off.

If the light came on, there should be a code stored.

autozone said they cant scan it bc its obd 1 not obd 2 so what should i do?!?!?

You can jumper the a and b terminals in the aldl port under the drivers side dash. the cel light should falsh 1 2= 12 then the code. 3 falshes plus 4 flashes = code 34.

so your saying that when i jump the a and b terminal ports that however many flashes it does then pauses then flashes again= the code number?
