New to the forums here and just got a 1996 Grand am yesterday for cheap. They said the computer had failed in the car and it would not start and was full of junk about to go to the junk yard, but I went ahead and got the car this is my second grand am. This one has the 2.4L in it with 224,000 miles and after we plug a jump pack up to it, it started right up. I changed the anti freeze in it as it was low and couldn't get the low coolant light to go off or the fan to come on. So I picked up a new relay today for the car and every thing went wrong form there I unbolted the relays and changed the one out for the fan. Then bolted it back up. The coolant light went off. A few minute later while letting the car run some of the dummy lights came on and the tech and temp gauge stop working. So I turn the car off and back on they worked for a second and then stop working again. So I checked the fuse and nothing. "Could this be because of the ecm relay not grounding??" So i unplugged the battery and plunged it back up. After this the theft light stays on and the car will start for a second then die. Any help would be great thanks.
