Hey all, new here. Just got a 2003 Sunfire this week. Not a bad car, handles ok, gets pretty good mpg also. Being a 2003 there are some small things wrong, mostly chipped paint or bubbles on the black stripe under the window. The two things that I really want to address are, 1. the two center vents for the heating/cooling system seem blocked and 2. the cigarette lighter port does not work.

I searched the forum and think I can get a replacement port for the lighter at the auto parts store so not too worried about that for now(if that doesn't work I'll be back here asking for more advise). I would like to know how hard it will be trying to diagnose/fix the vent problem. Any one have any ideas? Any help is greatly appreciated. Thanks.

Did you check if the fuse is blown for the lighter? The center vent problem could be related to an issue with the door that controls which way air circulates. If cable operated, the cable could be broken or kinked.

I did check the fuses and they all looked ok, BUT it was getting late and I was rushing to get in th feed the kids. Yeah, it is cable operated. I thought as much, was wondering how hard it would be to get under there and look. Hopefully I can see something, one way or the other.

You should pick up a Hanes or Chilton repair manual.
