Hello all. Recently bought a 2006 Torrent base model to use as a commuter to save miles on and get better fuel mileage than my 2017 F250.
Carfax came back great on it. Rust free North Carolina vehicle for most of it's life. There's been some minor issues but most have been addressed now. Had new struts, alignment and snow tires put on it a couple days after purchase.
Had a dead OBD plug that prevented me from getting a state inspection. But that was traced to a faulty trailer plug wire that blew a fuse and was fixed. There is a receiver hitch on it but I'll never use it as my trailer are all larger with 2 5/16 hitches. That's why I have a F250.
Changed plugs and wires, plugs appeared to be factory with 150k miles on them. Not good, electrode was half burned off of one plug. The rear 3 plugs were a bear to get at, even with moving the coil pack aside.
So mechanically we're all good now. Just some minor annoyances, like no lights on the HVAC controls. Got a used replacement from eBay. It lit up and mostly worked, but the fan worked on high only so that's going back. The next project is replacement headlight assemblies, have a set on order now. I've tried a couple of different lens cleaning products but a lot of the cloudiness seems to be on the inside.
It's my first Pontiac since the '74 LeMans GT I had in high school in 1980. Nice to have found a forum in case future issues crop up.
