I should have added this to my previous thread but I thought I would find an answer 10 pages into the sunfire thread. I have a "creak"(both sides in either direction I turn, no pull when driving or braking) and a slight binding when I turn the steering wheel...the fact the vehicle does not "shift" when I turn, tells me that the chassis needs grease(bought this yesterday as a beater to drive for 2 months and its been raining for 3 days...haven't had a look yet). But could this be the pinion and rack needing replacement? Ive never had this issue before so I have no idea

Probably the strut bearings( on top of the strut where they bolt to the body ) usually nothing to worry about, its common. Open the hood and see if the rubber is torn ( 3 small bolts/ nuts and 1 large nut ) where they bolt to the body. If torn badly, they have to be replaced. Otherwise, it's
just the the metal on rubber squeaking and its fine.

I agree with 92 Sunbird Le, start with the upper strut bearings for the nolse. If thats the cause and the struts are old you should replace the complete assemblies.

Awesome, Thanks Guys, I'm on my way out now to have a look while I address some other issues

Btw I'm not having a prob paying a couple bucks to fix this beater up a bit...for the cost of the vehicle from purchase to plated, plus cost of gas....I'm used to large truck part cost...I can't believe how cheap this thing is
