My daughters 08 Torrent was shuttering quite badly after hitting 5th gear at normal driving speeds (40+). It threw a code saying the EGR was bad. I replaced the EGR and the check engine light has gone out and stayed out, but the problem still persists! I'm thinking it could be plugs/wires and/or coil pack but most newer cars will quickly throw a code when the coil starts to go. anyone have any experience on this or other ideas? its a bit of a mystery!
thanks in advance...

Yes. according to the manual she is up to date... she is coming up on the 100,000 mile plug change, but this problem seems to be a bit more pronounced than plugs and/or wires. that is why i specifically mentioned the coil pack to see if others had experienced this without throwing a code. prior to last week it was showing the code indicating a bad EGR, which i replaced. the light went out but the trouble hung around. Before i started chasing problems and changing parts i thought i'd bring it up with other owners.

Do you experience the same problem at the same RPM in other gears? Would expect a coil pack issue to throw a misfire code P03XX

it's primarily in high gear but around 40ish mph. it finally threw a code indicating a misfire in cylinder #3. so tomorrow i'm going to change plugs and wires and see where that takes us.
