If the car was originally ordered with a 6.6 engine and an automatic trans in 1979, then yes the V* engine that would be installed would be an Olds 403 4bbl.
You would have to check the partial VIN as already suggested to know if it was originally installed in the car.
Also the 5th letter of the VIN would be a "K" for the Olds 403.
