I gi t an 05 montana with the check engine light on. If i plug in my code reader it wont power up.works in wifes car though. The fuse for cigarette lighter works as well.any ideas?

I have a cheap one that works with my smartphone but won't work on my 96 camaro but what I did notice on a few the key has to be in the on position.

Yes the key has to be turned on.as i said it works great on the wifes 04 malibu

I ended up running a new power wire to the cig lighter but now the van is talking to me,i thought I might be crazy or something.cant understand what its saying but the last thing I need is another women telling me what to do lol.the reader keeps giving off code 481,any ideas?

But since i fixed it there's been a voice over the radio that the phone is not billable or available or something like that when i turn the key on.what could that be
