So I have an 03 that the passenger high beam doesn’t work. Low beam is fine. Service vehicle soon light comes on most of the time (not the check engine). Had it scanned and verified it’s the light. Replaced the bulb and no change. But sometimes it will work but very rare

Next the car over heats so I replaced temp sensor, thermostat, radiator, hoses, fans, everything regarding cooling. Replace all the big relays. The fans (both) do kick on when reaching temp but at only low speed. Never kicks in the high fans.

Note the ODD part….. I did notice that when the high beam works and I do not get the service engine soon warning then I have no overheating issues.

The only thing that I can think would be a common connection would be a grounding issue. Does anyone have any ideas?

Did you check the ground for the headlight?
Did you decide to throw all those parts at the overheating problem or a shop?

That’s the issue is that I’m not sure where the ground is at for the light he thinks it’s a ground issue as well. My mechanic (not a shop) advised we do those parts, and I had to replace the radiator again because it ruptured. He owned a shop and is a GM master mechanic and even he can’t figure out why it is overheating. I still think the 2 issues are related somehow. My mechanic said it could be a ground, a relay, or the pcm/ecm.

Does he have diagnostic equipment to run tests?

Tech 2 or lap top loaded with GM diagnostics.

Yeah he has that scan/diag tool
None of this gets me any closer to finding an answer to my question though.

Have the ground connections for the lights been checked?
Has there been a search for technical service bulletins?

That’s what I need to know how to do. My mechanic is done with this car. Where are the ground connections for the lights at? And could the ground connections possibly be causing both the high beam and the cooling fan issues?

you or the mechanic have to find wiring diagrams, or a subscription to Alldata or find a different mechanic/dealer

My mechanic is not doing it anymore. Where would I find wiring diagrams and could these issues be related?

Try Hanes or Chilton manual or short term Alldata subscription or a pay online mechanic.
They could be related since you are observing a relationship between the two issues.
