torrent consuming oil with only 43,500 mi. I have inspected for leaks and can't find anything. oil is changed every 3,000mi. anyone got any reasoning or a solution to this it just started at about 38,000 mi. I have always used castrol gtx 5w-30. I used a fully synthetic 5w-30 pennzoil oil on my last oil change based on a mechanic friend who suggested it ,but it made no difference still consuming same amount of oil.

well you dont mention what year and if you are the original owner, does it still fall within the 5 year 100k factory warranty? You can also try switching to 10W30.

Its a 2008 and I am the original owner. According to a local dealer a quart burning every 2000 mi seems to be exceptable according to gm, is what I was told! I have owned a few cars new and used all GM and never had an oil consumption issue.
