Have a 2002 2.4 sunfire that just started missing badly at 3000 rpm. Checked oil and was down 3 quarts but none on the ground. Filled it up and pulled the plugs and 1st cylinder was full of oil, rest were dry. Plugs looked bad, now oil is leaking on the ground. Could this be a bad spark plug, oil/air separator or something much worse?

It is hard to believe that being 3 quarts down your engine made it to 3k without damage and without the low oil pressure light coming on! Have you rechecked the oil level when cold to make sure you have not overfilled the engine? You have to determine where the external oil leak is coming from. Do you have a check engine light on? The gasket around the plug access holes may have failed causing oil to be on the plug as you remove it.

blow by has to be confirmed with a compression test and leak down test

The car has never used oil...last oil change 1500 miles ago. Was down a quart 4 days ago and when it started missing I was only 2 miles from home. Actually died...got it started and back home. No oil around valve cover seal....the plug was immersed in oil, literally running of the thread end. No oil in the driveway b4 the incident....put cardboard under it and its dripping from the very middle of the engine.

when you say the plug was immersed in oil, do you mean with the plug still in the head it was surrounded by oil?

No oil visable till I took it out. Only on the threads and electrode, like u dipped it in oil.

you can try a compression test, how many miles on the engine?
locate the source of the oil leak.
