Hi. I own a 2000 grand am gt with the 3.4 ram air v6. I noticed a few months ago that there is what looks like oil in the antifreeze. I removed the coolant tank, cleaned it, but a couple months later it was back. I have no idea what this could be, or if its a sign of a future big problem. If you have any ideas they would help. Thanks!

Blown head gasket, this engine is prone to that, yeah should cost you around $2,000+ to get fixed. If it was less then 7 years old GM would fix it for free but looks like you just missed out on that. You could trade it in. Good luck!

It may not be anything that needs attention other than the coolant needs to be changed, GM has had some issues with "Dex Cool" coolant breaking down usually flushing the system and refilling is all that is required to keep the recovery bottle clean
if the bottle actually has oil in it there should be traces of it in the radiator also ..
your local dealer can tell for sure ..

Hello i have a 2003 Grand Am Gt and There is oil for sure in my anti freeze, in the reservoir. and all they are telling me is that the radiator is going bad. and its pushing up oil back up in the reservoir. is this bull shit or should i believe them?

if you have an automatic there is a tranmission cooler built into the radiator. it is possible if that section corroded that transmission fluid would mix with the antifreeze but not engine oil
