Hello I am new here and looking for advice/info. I recently saw an ad for an old sunbird for sale that claims its from 1975 but Wikipedia says they weren't produced until 1976. Also I am concerned about parts availability due to the age because either way its about 40 years old. I showed the ad to a friend who is a mechanic and he said as long as we can find parts and the frame isn't rotted out and the engine/transmission are ok it should be worth it. The ad also says that the missing parts like head lights etc. are with the car and were just removed for a paint job that never happened but I kind of like the way it looks as is. They are asking 400 and claim it ran fine when parked and shifts nice but it doesn't say when that was. Any helpful advice/input would be welcome. Thanks.

I am also a member of the H-body Site, Sunbird Coupe parts are not that hard to find, some Sunbird hatchback parts are very hard to find. The Big thing to look at is Chassis Rust, Look were the rear control arms attach to the chassis, Floor Boards, around the windshield, and under the battery tray. Those are the common hard to repair areas on any H-body.
They can be fun little cars. Does it have the Vega 4cylinder in it or the Buick V-6? They are nice handling and actually riding little cars for the era. $400 sounds more than reasonable if it runs and has no rust issues.
