Our 2000 Pontiac Montana was squeaking from the belt area, we took it to a mechanic and he changed the

tension The Tension Pulley was supposably changed, the squeaking stopped for a few hours then came back even worse, what could this be, when we washed the engine at the car wash the squeaking stopped when the belts got wet, why?

The belt has taken a "wear in" to the old tensioner and pulley alignment,
by changing the tensioner the belt has now different areas to "wear" into
getting it wet padded the pulley and stopped the sqeeling temporaraly but as soon as it dried out it will come back ..
you can try some Armor All on the belt to quiet it but that may be temperary also .. in the end you may just have to replace the belt or live with the noise...
