I am going to remove my downstream Oxygen Sensor and clean it. I saw online that they say to soak it in gasoline over night so I will most likely do that this weekend.

But, I also had a question. I saw online that Johnsen's makes a carb cleaner that is safe on Oxygen Sensors but that same can also says that it's an Intake cleaner. In my car, I have a can of Throttle Body cleaner that I used to clean my IAC valve the other day. The Throttle Body cleaner also says that it's an Intake cleaner. Since both the Throttle Body and Carb cleaner cans say "Intake cleaner", I was wondering if I would be able to use the Throttle Body cleaner to clean the Oxygen Sensor?

X2, there's no fixing an 02 sensor . Most times they go bad from the heating element inside . Never heard of fixing one before to be honest (hobbiest mechanic with over 6000 posts on Jeep forums, owned over 50 vehicles so far after 25yrs driving , like said , it's a hobby)

I never asked if I could fix it, I asked about cleaning it.

read this thread on your question, I know it's a Ford but the technology is the same, I believe the answer is, buy a new one.

I already read that post on there earlier. A lot of people say you can clean them, also a lot people say you can't. On ehow.com they say to soak the sensor in gasoline over night. My gf's bf used to be a mechanic and he even said it can be cleaned, but forgot what he said to clean it with.

On that forum, one guy said to use Deep Creep by SeaFoam to clean the sensor so I was thinking about going that route. And if all else fails I could go to the auto parts store and just buy a new one.

Wow , this is what you get for trying to help . Oh well , don't forget to fill the blinker fluid too , your welcome .
