I am on vacation in Wilmington NC. I have a 800 mile trip back home in 2 days when my check engine light came on. Autozone gave me an OBDII code of P0341 which is the camshaft position sensor. The car runs fine - no loss of power, no rough idling, no surges, no problem starting. The autozone guy says that it is a "pending" code and should cycle out and shut off in a few days. Should I be concerned? or just head back home? Any help or advice would be greatly appreciated. Thanks

Well I would at least wait a day and see if it goes out but definitely drive it around to test the van and also build up your confidence level. I don't think you will do any harm to the sensors or the cat . Keep an eye on your mileage that may change. I would like to tell you to just ignore it till you got back home( I think that's what I would do) but.... My other concern would be is it going to break down and leave me on the side of the road ???Maybe, hopefully other members can post there inputs/experiences also. Good Luck and keep us posted also what year and how many miles ? And I guess your out of warranty ?

The camshaft sensor is located behind and below the power steering pump. The wire insulation usually breaks down exposing bare wires where the wires enter the sensor. Look to see if thats the case with yours. If so you could take a long screw driver and carefully seperate the wires so you don't have and bare wires touching each other.
Then drive it home.

I have a 99 and it threw 3 CPS error codes a couple of weeks ago. Right when the van threw these codes it started running like crap and stalling. I went to AZ and bought the part for around $13. I popped the hood and in trying to locate the sensor to replace it I had noticed the wiring had sagged down and was laying on top of a pulley. It's the pulley thats towards the bottom of the engine and closest to the front. it had worn the insulation off and was shorting out the sensor. I relocated the wire and fixed the insulation on the wires and it runs like normal now.
