P0440 code for failed emission test

Code 0440: Could be the gas cap, vapor canister solenoid or vapor canister purge valve.

Vapor canister purge valve is under the hood. On the 2.2 L4 it's on the driver's side of the engine.
The vapor canister solenoid is next to the fuel filter over the rear axle.

If you go on RockAuto.com and find your car in the catalogue it'll give you a picture of the parts.

Is there any way to check them?Or which one would go bad first?Or do you replace both?

The dealers can check them but for what they'd charge it may just be cheaper or work out to be about the same to just change all three.
When I had that problem, I tried the gas cap first and when that didn't work, I just changed the other two one at a time. My problem turned out to be the purge valve and the gas cap.

Check your hoses too. Also my dealer told me when I first started having the code that occassionally it's the fill pipe to the gas tank but I'd think that'd be the last possibility.

That is what I did.It turned out to be the gas cap.And it passed inspection.Thanks for the help.
