In other words, "1995 Trans Am" isn't going to indicate to anybody that you need help. However, "Need help with my 1995 Trans Am" will. Be as descriptive as you can. Please use common sense... I have decided to paint the hood on my Sunfire. I have painting experience though not in always in an automotive field.

I will be using a DA sander to bring down the old paint, clean up the hood and shoot some primer on the hood.

What materials will I need for the next two jobs (base and clear)?

I will be painting in a garage, no oven paint booth however the garage is clean and dust free.

For the hood, would a quart of base be enough to apply a couple of coats? Also what is the ratio for the reducer mix with the base?

Do I have to add hardener to the base or is base and reducer enough?

For the clear, do I just mix activator with this?

I noticed Duplicolour sell cans of Clearcoat (no mixing needed) but these I believe are lacquer based and probably a bad idea?

Some suggestions on the waiting times between shooting coats would be appreciated too, thank you.

Look up you local Automotive paint store, such as PPG. they will have the best recomendations for your applications.
