Pontiac Aztek

I'm just glad they replaced this thing with the Torrent, though I'm not wild about it either.

My Aztek problems...never again!

I would like you to post this note if possible.........
My wife and I bought a "2001 program" aztek in 2001 and we loved it. We camped in it and traveled thousands of miles in it. The vehicle had 6000 miles when we first got it, but by 30000 miles problems started to arise with suspension, rear latch not opening, brake squeaking/noise, etc. Not to mention it did not have the painted lower plastic like the newer models did. So, we did what everyone told us not to do....We traded in the 2001 for a brand new specially ordered 2003, with the painted lower plastic and a power moonroof. The problems started immediately!!! As we drove out of the dealership parking lot the brakes squeaked at such a high pitch that we turned around at the first turn and brought the car back. The dealership owner was there and he said to take it over the weekend. We brought it back that Monday with brakes squeaking and power steering going out, my wife could not even drive it. We have had no luck with our dealership and needless to say after over 20 visits for broken misc. items it will be going down the road ASAP!!!! So, if anyone is looking for a beautiful black Aztek with 55000 miles, power everything including factory sunroof call 715.....I wouldn't wish this hastle on anyone, yet we love the versitility of our car. But never, ever will we buy 2 vehicles back to back just for a sunroof and a little painted plastic again......I'm buying beaters! F the big car sales places.

I need the lowdown on the bads of the Aztek. I think it's good enough for a serious look to buy and she's ugly in a way i find appealing. So give me the goods on your experience with your Azzie. Are their any problems with first year models i should look out for, are their any major changes since inception i should be aware of. What is their major malfunction (every model of vehicle has one). Are vehicles with high mileage still worth looking at or do they blow up spontaniously after 200 k's ? Please reply as i am in the market for one right now. Thanks ROY
Mine sucks....I've had it for 3 years and bought it new with extended waranty that has paid for itself over 3 times!!! 55 thousands miles hear is a partial list of my problems....suspension visits 5, power steering pumps (3), air ride pumps (2), brake squeaks (infinite problems), brake replacement visits (3 going on 4) calipers/rotors/pads, coolent leaks (1), check head gasker for cracks (1), etc. I have had it in to the dealership over 20 times in 3 years!!

HELP!!!!! I own a 2001 Aztec. I bought it brand new and have had several issues with it including sqeaky brakes, check engine light staying on and currently a problem with the A/C. It seems that the condensors on the 2001 model is prone to getting a hole/crack in it. Pontiac is aware of the problem, but won't do anything about it. The cost to repair the problem is very costly, over $1,000. Is anyone else experiencing this same problem?

why would you buy a astec!!?? they were the biggest peices of crap I ever had to sell. Sorry, trade it in while you still have some equity.

why are you people buy GM cars? why support ugly cars? with hard plastics gaps between all over, and gas milage?what gas milage? Aztek as all GM CARS including Buicks,Pontiacs Chevys are piece of crap. STAY AWAY Buy Honda Toyota Mazda or Korean Vehicles. Visit Europe and you find out why are europeans dont drive american cars.

Not so happy...

We bought our AWD top of the line Aztek new in 2003 and have had nothing but problems. From brake squeaks as soon as we drove out of the dealer's lot to an extensive list: head gasket (50000, miles), transmission problems, head light assembly, wiring harness, junction box ($1000 - $2000 repair), wheel barings (3), brake assemblies (4), power steering issues, service engine soon light for emisions??? 6 times...etc. An absolute nightmare. Currently in arbitration with GM for a buy back. We also had an 2001 Aztek FWD that was pretty well equipped and the same problems. We had a friend at a Pontiac dealership who said the vehicle had been refined for 2003...obviously that person is no longer a friend...an out right lie. Resale value is non-existent. All in all, on a scale of 0-10 for what we want in a vehicle, 8. Absolutely a piece of junk, and remember we have had 2 in a row that were considered LEMONS!

love mine. don't love the gray/silver color. wish it was orange:cool:
